Impressed my manager
I like surfing on the Internet a lot. I spend hours and hours in finding new interesting websites and information on the Internet. Everybody at my workplace knows about this fixation of mine, including my manager. My manager himself is a very good writer and keeps writing blogs on a host of interesting topics on the Internet. We all read his blogs and keep giving him feedback in the form of blog comments. He appreciates this and takes our comments positively. I was reading a new blog that he had recently written. I thought that I should tell him to improve the appearance of his blogs since he always kept the same background for all his blogs and so I wrote a post suggesting the same. The next day, he came around my cubicle and asked me to find new backgrounds for his blogs!! He said since I am such an expert at finding things on the net, I would be able to find new backdrops for his blogs! I was in a fix. I had no idea where to look for such things. In fact, I was not even aware that you get such backgrounds for free on the net or not. I realized that I had literally stuffed my foot in my mouth and now there was no escape. So I started surfing online for backgrounds. But I did not succeed. Dejected, I came home and called my girlfriend and told her my story. She laughed saying that I might not have put the correct search for the backgrounds. She asked me to search for “blog templates†and then see. I did that and to my relief, found the best website which had an excellent collection of templates. The website is http://freeblogtemplates.org. The next day I suggested this to my manager. He too checked out the website and was very happy with the new templates. He immediately used them for his new blogs and thanks me till date for such a great idea!!
My mother is internet-savvy now!
My mother has always been inquisitive and was keen on knowing new things about the world. Though, we had an internet access, it was of no use to my mother as she is not well versed with English. She is only familiar with our local language. Then, a friend suggested me to show her http://www.setooz.com that provided arama motoru – a search engine in our language. Trust me; it is amazing to see my mother searching for various websites that gives her information in our own local language. Thanks to these guys, my mother is internet-savvy. She now reads about various things on the internet and is enjoying it too!
